Superintendents Message

Dear Parents and Families,

On behalf of the Board of Education and the outstanding staff of the Empire Union School District, I welcome you.  The beginning of a new school year provides us with another opportunity to continue our district’s vision of being a place dedicated to each of our children, devoted to our whole community, defined by our ideals, and providing the finest elementary education in the Central Valley.   We will accomplish this vision by working in partnership with you to provide each of our children with a rigorous academic education, a safe learning environment, and the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for success.  We look forward to taking advantage of the many opportunities to develop a positive working relationship between the school and home.

This district has a long tradition of academic excellence, coupled with a strong commitment to the success of every student. Our mission is to provide all students with programs of excellence that instill a passion for life-long learning, while preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow. We are committed to preparing our students for their future by providing high-quality, well-rounded educational programs both in and out of the classroom. While we cannot predict the future, it is essential that we support our students in developing the knowledge and skills that will guide them on their journey as lifelong learners. Our parents and community members are critical partners in the education of our students.  We appreciate and value the trust that parents have placed in our staff and we accept the responsibility of ensuring that all students graduate with the 21st century skills necessary for success in a competitive global society. We are committed to developing in each student the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to ensure many paths to a successful future. Our number one priority will always be the success of every student.

We are very proud of the many successes of our schools, but recognize that success requires continuous improvement. We cannot stand on past laurels if we are to prepare our students for their future. As this school year begins, I encourage you to meet the teachers, administrators, and support staff at school in order to continue developing strong partnerships.   Working in partnerships, we can create an educational experience that allows for maximum student learning as well as a safe and positive social environment for students.   A successful home/school partnership is the foundation of our District’s core values and goals.

Together we embrace and celebrate the diversity in our community, we have high expectations for learning for all students, we value the use of technology as a tool to improve and support classroom instruction, we believe that all students will have equal access to strong core academic programs, and we believe that all students can and want to learn.   I look forward to meeting and working with you on behalf of our students.
