 Greetings Empire Union School District Families,

As the Empire Union School District continues it’s planning for the 2022-23 school year, we would like to remind you that school will start on August 8, 2022 with in-person learning full days, 5 days per week.  Our before school Latchkey program and our afterschool Extended Learning Opportunity Program will be fully functioning Monday thru Friday.

In addition we will be offering a Distance Learning Pathway, consisting of Independent Study pathway for the 2022-2023 school year.  We have secured and contracted the services of an Independent Study vendor (Edgenuity) to provide this program.

 EUSD’s Independent Study Program for 2022-2023 will include the following:

·         Independent Study Students commit to the Independent Study Program for a full Semester (August 8 - December 16 and January 6 – May 25).

·         The teacher of record will be provided by Edgenuity.

·         Each EUSD Independent Study student will be provided an EUSD support teacher.

·         All Independent Study students in grades K-8 will be enrolled in English-Language Arts, Math, Science, History, P.E. and an Elective.

·         Program transitions back into the in-person pathway may occur within 5 days of a request to return to the in-person pathway.

·         Independent Study Students will be provided with a device and hotspot as needed to access online independent study curriculum.

·         Independent Study Students will need an adult in their home throughout their instructional day to help guide and assist them with this Independent Study Program.
