Spacos!

From storybook to lunch tray, Sipherd students got a tasty surprise last month thanks to our wonderful school counselor, Monika Teves, our fantastic cafeteria manager, Ana, and the amazing cafeteria team.

Students were already familiar with the story The Great Compromise after Monika read it with them in class. In the book, half the class wants spaghetti and half wants tacos, so they combine the two to make everyone happy. Inspired by that idea, Ana and the cafeteria team brought the story to life with a one of a kind lunch: the Spaco! A Spaco is exactly what it sounds like, spaghetti tucked inside a crunchy taco shell, topped with lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. They served 292 Spacos (plus 10 adventurous adults!) and fed 414 students in total.

This creative lunch was more than just fun, it connected reading to real life, sparked conversations about teamwork and compromise, and gave our students a memory they’ll never forget. Huge shoutout to Monika, Ana, and the cafeteria team for keeping both learning and lunchtime exciting! Want to see more moments like this?
